Barbara Crostini si occupa di tradizione di testi greci e bizantini, con particolare attenzione agli aspetti materiali ed ai codici, anche miniati. Ha lavorato in particolare sui manoscritti del commento ai Salmi di Esichiodi Gerusalemme, sulle catene ai Salmi e la loro trasmissione nell’undicesimo secolo. Nonostante lo scisma del 1054, il suo approccio all’ambiente monastico e ai suoi prodotti manoscritti ha perseguito un discorso sia compartivo che unitario per approfondire il significato della cultura bizantina inserita in un contesto mediterraneo globale.
